In the fourth quarter of 2024, the top five maps and navigation applications in South Africa showed varied performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. This data, provided by Sensor Tower, offers insights into their market dynamics.

Circuit Route Planner from Circuit Routing Limited observed a steady incline in weekly active users, peaking at 786K in early December before a decline to 543K by the end of the month. Weekly revenue saw an upward trend, reaching approximately $1.4K in late November. Downloads fluctuated, with a high of 494K in early December, followed by a decrease to 136K by the end of the quarter.

Navionics® Boating, published by Garmin, experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, jumping from 129K in mid-December to 780K by the end of the month. Revenue peaked at $2.6K during the week of December 23. Active users also surged, reaching 842K in the final week.

GPS Coordinates Locator Map by Firehawk saw a consistent increase in weekly active users, with numbers rising from 553K at the start of December to 991K by the end of the quarter. Downloads varied, peaking at 1.3K in mid-November, and revenue showed modest growth, maintaining around $289 by mid-December.

Gaia GPS: Offline Trail Maps from Outside, Inc. demonstrated a steady revenue increase, peaking at $941 the week of December 2. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 627K by the end of the quarter. Downloads decreased from 205K in early October to 164K by the last week of December.

GPS Phone Location Tracker by ReiDxSoft showed a strong performance with a consistent rise in active users, reaching nearly 5M by the end of December. Downloads saw a peak of 1.4K in the final week, while revenue remained steady, ending at around $518.
